Hollywood loves Louisiana, too.
Each year brings more and more movies filming here. Louisiana hasn't been recently named "Hollywood South" for nothing. Beyond the Hollywood big-budget flash, the producers of hundreds of smaller productions also choose to use the scenery of Louisiana to tell their stories. In 2004, over $300 million was spent on film production in the state.
And let's not forget about Louisiana's music industry. Musicians and music producers from all over the globe are clamoring to draw on our jazz heritage, to tap into our rich history of musical expression. As it is, Louisiana's music industry is already exciting and vibrant, accounting for over 50,000 jobs and making a $2.2 billion economic impact.

This technologically-advanced facility will teach students what they need to know, so they can find jobs in Louisiana's modern film and music industries. Delgado will also teach them how to navigate the business side of the entertainment world and help them secure placement. A sophisticated database of graduates, their specialties, and their experience will guide film and music producers to the skilled workers they need, right here in the state.
The effect on Louisiana's economy will be phenomenal. After five years, Delgado estimates approximately 300 of our graduates will be working in the well-paying entertainment industry. These graduates alone will have earned $50 million in wages, have generated $2.2 million in income for the state, and contributed $1.2 million in local sales taxes.
Louisiana needs this cutting-edge complex in order to compete with other states. In order to build it, Delgado must raise a total of $11.8 million. Every contribution is an investment in Louisiana's future, an investment that will pay dividends many times over through better jobs for our citizens and an increased tax base. Part of Delgado's mission is to improve Louisiana's workforce, economy, and the overall quality of life. Everyone who cares about Louisiana doubtlessly shares these goals.
